"Have you met Miss Mordue?"
On the 9th of February 1988 in Sydney, Australia Abbey Joy Mordue was born with a passion to sing! Her mother claims "Abbey was singing the alphabet before she could talk" and at the age of 8 she made her singing debut at The Sydney Opera House. The following year The Mordue Family moved to London where Abbey's love for the stage was fuelled by the dazzling lights of The West End. Music was always at the forefront of her schooldays, becoming Head Chorister of the school choir and achieving Grade 8 singing by 17. After finishing her A-Levels Abbey went on to complete a degree in 'Acting for the Musical Stage' at The Royal Central School of Speech & Drama. This led Abbey to acquire representation from her agent, Michelle Braidman which launched her career as a professional actress. Abbey has played many roles on both stage and screen and is probably best known for playing the role of 'Kerry' on Channel 4's 'The Inbetweeners'. In 2011 Abbey co-founded the music comedy group 'Four Femmes on the Thames' who won 'The UK Music Comedy Awards 2016". In 2015 Abbey was awarded a scholarship to attend 'The Guildhall School of Music & Drama' where she studied 'Master of Music in Performance' specialising in Jazz Singing. At Guildhall Abbey formed the Jazz Septet, 'The Jitter Kings' who specialise in Swing and Dixieland and hold a residency at Ronnie Scott's. Over Christmas 2017, Abbey fronted 'Mickey's Christmas Big Band' at Disneyland Paris for 3 months and had a blast living in the French Capital! You can now catch Abbey regularly at Soho Houses' Café Monico and Café Boheme. Watch out for Abbey's latest project: 'Madame Mixtape'. A sizzling 6 piece line up bringing you nostalgic tunes from the 90s, 00s and 10s reimagined and rearranged in styles from a classier, bygone era! |
